We are proud to announce that Color Me In has been selected to screen in the in the 2nd Annual BlackStar Film Festival taking place August 1-4, 2013 in Philadelphia, PA, as part of the narrative shorts screenings. I decided I wanted to start experimenting with HDR photography, so I called upon one of my mentees, Philly youth poet Alex Santiago (who was in need of headshots/portraits), to be my test model. We came across some awesome locations in North Philadelphia that created a great aesthetic for our shots. As well it was a fun shoot with lots of laughs. These are a few edited shots from the shoot.

While bulk transcoding some footage today, I decided to build myself a website for my film/video work (finally), that will focus specifically on highlighting myself as a DP (Director of Photography), since I have decided that is the area I would like to further develop and pursue with regard to my ventures in filmmaking. While filming the bridge scene for “Color Me In”, I decided to take some quick shots of Khaleb to potentially use as a the promotional poster. However, when I film I use a preset in my camera to flatten the color of the image, which allows for easier manipulation for color correction in post-production. I neglected to switch back to the setting I generally use for portrait photography, so my photo came out very flat (and since it was bright and windy and chilly on that bridge….and people were about to enter my shot….I didn’t really bother checking the shots on my LCD…..photographer fail).

Luckily, with Photoshop magic (not Instagram filters *wink wink*), I was able to edit the photo to something I felt comfortable presenting to the world. I decided to post this to show that photography is more than just pointing a camera and pressing a button. There is thought and effort that goes into what we do, and into properly fixing it when we F up.
